She found Russia
I am sorry that I have left this thing dormant for so long, my urge for new diversions fizzled off and made the upkeep of another diary a little excessive. I still update this thing more than LJ though, so don't feel snubbed. I have had a very enjoyable Easter long weekend which was occupied mostly with sleeping and reading. However, I did fit a few more social diversions into the weekend. It all began on Thursday... (queue flashback sequence).
Chris, Bob, and I went to seeBubba Ho-Tep and it was fabulous. I was near to tears at several points in the movie, that is how movingly Bruce Campbell portrayed Elvis. I have lately been thinking about the emotional effects of growing old, and the movie played on those emotions I have been thinking about. The effects of Alzheimer’s in particular has been on my mind. Bubba Ho-Tep focused more on impotence, but the basic topic base was there.
Anyways, after the movie we went back to Mel's and did some drugs. That went both well and poorly. It was enjoyable enough that I do not regret doing it, but not enjoyable enough to make me wish to do them again. But then, before this I said I had sworn them off forever, so my convictions now hold very little weight in my actions later.
Friday I slept and then forced Melissa to watch Pride and Prejudice. Somehow she managed to be surprised that it is a good movie, but at least she likes it now. Saturday I watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and I loved it. I think that it is in a right way to become a favourite of mine. I have been seeing a lot of excellent movies lately, I hope it keeps up! All of a sudden I have a list of favourites where before I had almost nothing. After the movie, I went to Easter dinner at Wanda's. Wanda is a geologist, as are all my mothers friends, and geologist parties are usually pretty fun. Far better than family parties, that is for sure.
On Sunday I spent a long time on the internet looking through children’s book illustrations. I came out with some beautiful stuff. This is one of my favourites.
Quite frankly, I am going to let this post fizzle out because I want to sleep.
